Sundays on the Square

Sundays on the Square 2022 continues in July with weekly concerts — except for July 17 when there is NO Sundays on the Square. That week, you can enjoy the music at the 37th Annual Woodstock Folk Festival.

On all the other Sundays of July, plan to get together with your friends on the historic Woodstock Town Square for an evening (5-7 pm) to celebrate music, summer, fun, and friends. Read more below about Sundays on the Square, one of the best things about summer.

The July 2022 Schedule follows.

July 3 | Sons of the Never Wrong, Turbo-charged Altfolk

Sons of the Never Wrong

Sons of the Never Wrong is a turbo-charged Altfolk trio from Chicago that delivers witty, whimsical songs with their signature soaring vocal harmonies and gorgeous arrangements.

In case you’re wondering, they’re 2 gals and a fella: Bruce Roper, Sue Demel, and Deborah Lader. Their odd ball humor and spontaneous stories ignite their live shows and have earned them a cult-like international following for nearly 30 years.

Combining influences of folk, jazz, pop and rock, their sound is wildly original, their energy is contagious, and their banter is hilarious. Read more HERE.

July 10 | Courtney and Chris | McCoo & Moriyah

Courtney & Chris

Courtney and Chris are a musical duo from the northwest suburbs of Chicago featuring Courtney Sullivan on vocals and rhythm guitar and Chris Kalkbrenner playing lead guitar. They perform pop hits from the 60s all the way through current day.

Sundays on the Square | Arranmore | July 31, 2022

Arranmore has Irish roots, but is reaching out for diversity in a mix of variety of styles on its fifth and latest release, the engaging ‘Memories that Echo’ – Chicago Tribune

Arranmore takes its name from an island off the Northwest coast of Donegal in Ireland. Although it started out as what can be best described as an Irish pub band, over the last 15 years the group evolved into what is better described as an Americana/Folk/Celtic music-influenced act.

The roots of the music Arranmore performs today certainly trace back to Ireland. But, they are also found in the hills of Appalachia, the early “dust bowls” of the American West, the long-ago weekend music that filled the Ryman Auditorium in Tennessee, as well as the gospel revival tents of America’s south.

The group Arranmore is, in the truest sense of the definition, a “musical melting pot”. Arranmore’s live performance bursts forth with all these elements to cover the wide base of music preference their audience brings to the show. The group enjoys this musical diversity and has long felt that by mixing all these music styles, they are in fact bringing awareness of their Irish roots to a much larger, broader-range audience.

Brian Murphy, leader of Arranmore, played with the Stage Left Overs in Woodstock and for Music at the MarketSundays on the Square1st Wednesday Concert Series at Stage Left Cafe (formerly 4th Fridays), and Stage Left Open Mics.
