Stage Left Open Mic – Randy Ingram featured performer in December

Randy Ingram likes to experience a variety of what life has to offer, and he uses that experience in his music and acting.

His first love was theater. As a child growing up in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, he was always acting, pretending to be Fonzy from Happy Days or Mork from Ork.

As Randy grew older, he got involved with theater professionally, some plays but mostly improv. He worked at Chicago and Bristol Renaissance as well as at Second City and the Shakespeare’s Stage at Navy Pier. Randy mentions how much he enjoyed the people he worked with, which made his work seem more like fun than work. In addition to acting, Randy is passionate about his music and crafting.

But Randy’s diversity of experience doesn’t stop with music and acting! Working as a volunteer with FEMA disaster response, he had “his own share” of experiences. In addition he was part of a first responder search and rescue group. He also worked with hospice for a couple of years. During Covid, he was a non-emergency medical transport driver. Today, as he tries to leave time for parenting and music and waits for his next direction to reveal itself, he works as a delivery driver and warehouse worker for Farm and Fleet.

Randy’s interests extend from helping people to helping the planet. Before devoting himself to acting, he earned a degree in conservation land management. Who knows where that may lead someday? Perhaps to a new song…

As for music…

Randy began his music career as a drummer when he was 9 years old. Later, in his teens, he started dabbling with piano, teaching himself. He says he’s always felt some connection to music in one way or another. As for his songwriting style, he considers it a work-in-progress. Writing songs and putting his emotions into them is “kind of a new thing for him.” At this time, all he hopes to achieve with his music is to make people happy and give give them a good time.

Along with his acting, music, and other work, he enjoys time with his daughter, Nora, who’s “13 going on 21.”
