If you love the blues, if you love slide guitar, you’ll love the Donna Herula Trio. In 2021, Donna was voted Artist of the year winner in the UK and is tearing up the circuit in Chicago-land blues venues. She has played with some of the greats and looks like she is only 25! She specializes in traditional Delta and Country Blues, early Chicago Blues, folk, Americana, and roots music.
Acoustic Guitar Magazine named native Chicagoan Donna Herula as one of the top 10 up and coming resonator guitar players in an article, “Down and Dirty: 10 contemporary resonator players talk about their love for that nasty sound.” On October 16th, 2016, Donna was inducted into the Chicago Blues Hall of Fame at Buddy Guy’s Legends.

A Chicago-born blues singer, songwriter, and slide guitarist, Donna has a passion for playing traditional Delta and Country Blues, early Chicago Blues, folk, Americana, and roots music. Using electrified resonator guitars, her sound combines her love for the music of the Deep South and Chicago with her love of blues guitar improvisation. Her songwriting tips the hat to the tradition while creating a fresh, contemporary perspective on blues and roots music.

“A truly gifted virtuoso of the resonator guitar who also possesses the most stunning of voices. Herula is a Chicago-born Blues artist of the highest order who not only sings, plays slide but also is a more than accomplished composer.” ~ Peter Merrett, PBS 106.7 FM, Melbourne, Australia
“This album certainly will be destined for awards — it’s the best acoustic blues and roots album I’ve heard in at least a year, if not longer. I most highly recommend this CD for all lovers of traditional and acoustic blues. It’s a wonderful mix of Delta and Chicago blues with some great folky overtones. I don’t think I can pick out a favorite cut here because they are all superb. Eleven fine originals and three marvelous covers make for some really interesting and classic performances from top to bottom.” ~ Steve Jones, Chicago Blues Guide
