Jim Fine (jimfinemusic.com) along with his special guests, Don Stiernberg and Rich Prezioso, perform January 16 in a Lake County Folk Club Concert.
If you love traditional and modern folk music, then you’ll want to join our good friend, Jim Fine, for this celebration of his most recent CD release. Mr. Fine and his dandy sidekicks, Don Stiernberg and Rich Prezioso, play songs from the brand new Never Underestimate an Old Man with a Guitar album. Don and Rich feature prominently with their instrumentals and vocal accompaniment.
Cut from similar cloth as great Texas singers like Guy Clark and Robert Earl Keen, Jim is an acoustic troubadour. He mixes folk wit with a little dusty twang in his authentic interpretations of alt-country laments and rootsy ballads.
With his smooth baritone voice and graceful guitar work, Jim is much more than fine when he puts his unique stamp on traditional and modern folk material.
Add to the mix Don Stiernberg’s instrumental wizardry and Rich Prezioso’s lead guitar, resonator guitar, and harmony vocals, and the result is a three-headed acoustic juggernaut that hits with equal parts power and nuance.
Ramblin’ Dan Sylvester starts the evening off on the right (cowboy-boot-clad) foot. With a voice as deep and potent as the Rio Grande, Dan reinvigorates songs of classic western swing, depression-era standards, and gold-dust-covered waltzes from a bygone age. A strong, laid-back rhythm hand on guitar makes for the perfect companion as he coaxes us to amble over canyon and prairie.
