Jim Green is the featured performer for our next Stage Left Open Mic, May 11, 2022, 7:00 pm/CST (doors open 6:30 pm). Please join us at Stage Left Cafe, 125 Van Buren St., Woodstock, on the historic Woodstock Square.
Our Stage Left Open Mics are now Hybrid Events so you can enjoy us from home if you can’t get into the Square. Either way, these monthly events offer a delightful evening of music and friendship. We hope to see you — performing or enjoying the performances.
About Jim Green

Jim Green transcends popular genres by creating fiery percussive driven solo finger-style acoustic guitar instrumentals in a fresh and compelling way. He utilizes unusual guitar tunings while incorporating percussive rhythms, harmonics, and finger-tapping with a piano-like approach that is both musically and visually stimulating.
Green’s driving perfectionism to his music brought him from an unknown street musician to gaining the attention of the Editors at Billboard Magazine who named him “One of the best independent artists in the Midwest.” In 2004, he won the Guitar Idol Championship.
Jim has opened shows for popular artists such as America, Lucas Nelson, Ann Wilson (Heart), Pat Benatar, Credence Clearwater Revisited, Poi Dog Pondering, Johnny Rivers, Muriel Anderson and Dire Straits Legacy to name a few. His latest and seventh recording True North, received rave reviews and airplay on over 180 radio stations across the US and Canada including NPR’s Echoes program.
Although Jim Green has gained much interest for his unusual percussive playing style, he considers himself a songwriter first, a guitarist second. “My songs are the musical result of self-discovery and the sonic exploration of the guitar. The techniques are not meant to be seen as tricks but instead, to be heard as an expression of emotional tone.”

What is the Stage Left Open Mic?

These Open Mics, brought to you by Off Square Music, are monthly events on 2nd Wednesdays in Woodstock. Performers — musicians, singers, poets, and others — come together to connect with a live audience in a wonderful, family-friendly environment.
Whether you’re just starting out as a performer or are a seasoned veteran, our audience provides a supportive atmosphere. Stage Left, part of the Woodstock Opera House, adds to that ambiance with an exceptional performance space and sound system.
Off Square requests a $5.00/pp donation to support our many music activities, including these Stage Left Open Mic nights.
