Dan Kalkbrenner is a singer-songwriter in the acoustic folk genre. He plays fingerpick style on a 12 string guitar. He is a retired engineer and self-taught guitar player since 13 years old. He enjoys the “Gordon Lightfoot” sound/style.

Dan grew up in the northern Illinois area and lives just a few miles from his childhood home. Many of his songs are about his early childhood experiences — funny stories with a serious angle. He tries to paint a picture with the lyrics to transport the listener to a different time and place. He has written many songs about skating, fishing, and swimming in the Fox River, some songs that poke fun at current events and culture, and even a few darker human nature songs.

Dan Kalkbrenner plays at Stage Left Open Mics, All-Original Open Mics, and Every Saturday Virtual Open Mics.
