More About Pete & Cheryl
Pete Jonsson has performed in bands and as a solo artist since the ice age. Pete grew up in a house where relatives gathered and played music. It was then that he began learning some old standards, popular music of the early 1900s. Pete is also fond of folk, blues, country, and pop. He plays guitar in various styles, fingerpicking, flatpicking, and slide. He also has a wide range of wonderful original tunes.
Cheryl Niemo’s voice and performances have gotten attention wherever and whenever she sings. She has an impressive resume of guest spots with bands and also performs often in Northern Illinois with her own band, Cheryl Niemo and the Down Home Boys. She loves and sings old-time country, traditional folk, Americana, songs that have roots and reach back into our country’s history, or the songs of singer-songwriters with similar sensibilities: Emmylou Harris, Gillian Welch, The Carter Family, Iris Dement, and Patty Griffin.

What is the Stage Left Open Mic?
These Open Mics, brought to you by Off Square Music, are monthly events on 2nd Wednesdays in Woodstock. Performers — musicians, singers, poets, and others — come together to connect with a live audience in a wonderful, family-friendly environment.
Whether you’re just starting out as a performer or are a seasoned veteran, our audience provides a supportive atmosphere. Stage Left, part of the Woodstock Opera House, adds to that ambiance with an exceptional performance space and sound system.
Off Square requests a $5.00/pp donation to support our many music activities, including these Stage Left Open Mic nights.
Important note to all performers and attendees
Please review these new COVID-19 Guidelines provided by the Opera House. We require proof of vaccination in Stage Left Cafe for everyone and masks except when eating, drinking or performing.
