Stage Left Open Mic in May – Mark Hobbs featured performer

Mark Hobbs is a singer-songwriter with a passion for real music about real life. A bus or a train or a break up. A county fair or a trailer park….inspiration comes in from every direction.

Mark finds inspiration in the everyday and invites listeners to see beauty and interconnectedness in the otherwise seemingly ordinary. He writes songs chiseled out of real experience that echo in the souls of his listeners, offering a fresh perspective on life.

Mark has loved music for as long as he can remember, teaching himself how to play the guitar as a teenager and singing popular folk and pop/rock tunes. Writing poems and songs about the things he experiences comes naturally, and his original tunes have earned him a loyal following throughout Northern Illinois.

For over ten years, Mark has performed at venues in the Midwest. He is a familiar presence on the local folk scene. Right out of the gate, Mark starts with writing insightful, well-crafted songs that stir the senses with vivid imagery and sensory memories. On this solid base, Mark serves up his songs with a rich, clear, and resonant voice and intricate guitar arrangements. Both his voice and his guitar arrangements serve as an excellent canvas for his visceral soundscapes and allow the spirit of his material to really sink in and resonate.

There have been people, places, experiences, and ‘visions’ that all found their home with Mark Hobbs, an extraordinary human who enjoys connecting the dots to find relationships between all things. We get to come along on the adventure.
