Save the date, Friday, October 13! Please join us at Stage Left Cafe, 125 Van Buren St., Woodstock, on the historic Woodstock Square. Returning to Friday evenings brought back our great crowds along with wonderful music.

These monthly events offer a delightful evening of music and friendship. We hope to see you — performing or enjoying the performances.

October Stage Left Open Mic Features Merv Collins

Merv Collins is a Fingerstyle Acoustic Guitarist. He’s been playing guitar since the ’60s and is deeply into the world of fingerstyle guitar. In addition, he dabbles with slide (lap) and guitar synthesis. Currently, he has three CDs of original material released. His most recent album titled “Fingers & Strings” came out on March 11, 2011 to go with his two previously released CDs, “Bits & Pieces,” released in 2006, and “True to the Music,” which came out in 2008. He is quite proud of all these CDs!

Merv performed around the wider Chicago area since moving here from the Detroit area back in 2005. Always on the lookout for new performance venues, he’d like to hear from you if you know of any good spots. I also enjoys getting involved in jam sessions with other musicians he meets and considers himself a “lead guitarist” by nature.
