Tricia Alexander is an award-winning performing and healing artist with a 30-year history in community arts development focused on individual creativity, writing performance, and self-expression.

Teaching and performing carried Tricia across America, then into Canada, Great Britain, and India — to festivals, theaters, cafes, and prisons, and then to retreat centers, church services, hospitals, churches, and schools.

The Folk Music Source Book places Tricia’s “intelligent contemporary writing” in the same league as Holly Near, Cheryl Wheeler, Anne Hills, and Christine Lavin.

To date, Tricia has released five CDs, two full-length cassettes, three books of her own poetry, and five chapbooks of inner-city youth poetry and art. Two new CDs are in process, due for a December 2022 release.

Joy-filled, uplifting, and inspiring are just some of the words used to describe Tricia’s music and performance. Vocalist, guitarist, percussionist and harmonica player, songwriter, and performance poet, Tricia moves between jazz, blues, and folk, spoken word and music, original compositions, and re-interpreted cover tunes — and she does it all with seamless grace.

Tricia plays at many Off Square Music events including Every Saturday Virtual Open Mic, Open Mic at Stage Left, All-Original Open Mic at Stage Left, various Concerts, Music at the Market, and Sundays on the Square.
